United Bank of India signs MOU with West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board for collection of registration fees and distribution of Margin Money

United Bank of India, the Lead Bank in ten Districts and SLBC convener of West Bengal is forerunner in lending through REGP (Rural Employment Guarantee Program) in the Eastern and North Eastern parts of the country for uplifting the economically backward people in collaboration with the Khadi & Village Industries Boards of the States.

In West Bengal, to facilitate quick collection of Registration Fees and disbursal of Margin Money Grant, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board and United Bank of India in a momentous function held at the United Tower, the Headquarters of the Bank at Kolkata on 24th January, 2008.

The Ceremony is attended by Shri Manab Mukherjee, the Hon'ble Minister of Micro & Small Scale Enterprises, Textile & Tourism of Govt. of West Bengal as Guest of Honour; Shri R.Mutsuddi, Principal Secretary to the Ministry and Dr.Prabir Banerjee, Special Secretary & CEO of KVIB as the Chief Guests are honored and welcome by the Chairman and Managing Director of the Bank Shri P.K.Gupta.

Dr.Prabir Banerjee, the CEO of WBKVIB and Shri Swapan Biswas, General Manager (Marketing & New Initiative) of the Bank as signed the MOU on their respective behalves. Dr. Banerjee through his presentation has shown how UBI has been pioneering in the REGP lending since its beginning registering about 42% growth. Shri Biswas has emphasized that the MOU will enable WBKVIB for quick remittance of funds through 705 branches of UBI and 547 branches of Bangiya Gramin Vikas Bank in West Bengal.

Shri Manab Mukherjee has praised United Bank for taking the lead share among the Banks in West Bengal in the progress of REGP in which West Bengal is the numero uno performer in India. He stressed the need of all round assessment for unsuccessful REGP schemes and urged the field level functionary of KVIB to extend active hand towards repaying the Bank's dues.

Shri P.K.Gupta the Chairman and Managing Director of the Bank announced that the Bank will soon establish two more RUDSETI(UBI Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute) to impart vocational & job oriented trainings to the beneficiaries under REGP/KVIC soon, one of which is already operational at Rajpur. He thanked West Bengal Government to consider UBI as the partner Bank in implementing a number of socio-economic projects.
