Release of United Vision and a film, In Pursuit of Excellence
In a glittering function held at G.D. Birla Sabhaghar, Kolkata on Saturday, the 11th August 2007, United Bank of India released
United Vision – its Vision Statement and In Pursuit of Excellence – a motivational film for its employees. Shri Amit Kiran Deb, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal, was the Chief Guest. Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, the renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist was the Guest of Honour.
In his welcome address, Shri P.K. Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank spoke about the thoughts behind the
Vision Statement and the Film. United Vision is an effort to contemplate the desirable future state of the Bank and specifically talks about the attributes which all UBIans would like to imbibe in the personality of their Bank. A formal release of the document was planned to encourage discussions on the
Vision at all levels, so that it becomes a reference point for taking important and strategic decisions. Understanding the
Vision was only the beginning of the process. After understanding what the Vision meant, it was necessary to discuss how to translate the
Vision to reality. The film, In Pursuit of Excellence also deals with the challenges and issues that the Bank faces and reinforces the
Vision. He urged upon the employees to work in unison and harmony with a resolve to become a winning team.
The Vision Statement states that it is the vision of the Bank to emerge as a dynamic, techno-savvy, customer-centric, progressive and financially sound premier Bank of our country with pan-India presence, sharply focussed on business growth and profitability, with due emphasis on risk management in an environment of professionalism, trust and transparency, observing highest standards of corporate governance and corporate social responsibilities, meeting the expectations of all its stakeholders as well as the aspirations of its employees.
Shri Amit Kiran Deb, in his address recognized the special position of United Bank of India as the Convenor of State Level Bankers’ Committee and the fact that it had about 700 branches in the State of West Bengal. He congratulated the management and the employees of the Bank for drafting
the United Vision and felt that this would encourage and inspire the UBIans to enhance their performance and serve the society. He complimented all those employees who had participated in the making of the film,
In Pursuit of Excellence.
The programme was anchored by Ms. Madhumanti Maitra and was well attended by senior Government officials and valued customers of the Bank. Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty gave an excellent rendition of Hindustani Classical Vocal which was most befitting a function celebrating the release of a Vision Statement which says that “Essentially, pursuit of excellence is going to be the core philosophy and driving force for the Bank” and the film released is titled
“In Pursuit of Excellence”
