United Bank of India launches Photo Personalised Biometric Smart Card

United Bank of India is the first nationalized Bank having launched Photo Personalised Biometric Smart Card in the State of West Bengal at Dohathuba Village in 24-Parganas (North) District. Shri T.M. Bhasin, Executive Director, United Bank of India, presided over the function and distributed the Cards to SHG Members present in the function. The grand function was blessed and attended by Shri A.K. Das, Special Secretary & Director Institutional Finance, Govt. of West Bengal, Shri Pranab Bhattacharjee, Local MLA, and Smt. Sharimishtha Dutta, Chairperson, Ashok Nagar-Kalayangarh Municipality, as Chief Guests.

The Bank has enrolled approximately One Thousand Villagers in the initial launch of the Smart Card in that locality. This Card will enable the Villagers and SHG members to avail Doorstep Offsite Banking Services through Customer Service Provider in Business Correspondent Model enabling the Villagers in joining the Financial Inclusion Project of United Bank of India.

Shri T.M. Bhasin, Executive Director in his keynote address highlighted the safety, security and convenience of the new Biometric Smart Card being launched by United Bank which will enable the villagers in depositing and withdrawing their hard earned money on the spot without paying a visit to the branch. Since it is fingerprint based identification Smart Card, he stressed that there will be no chances of fraud or impersonation, even if the card is stolen or mis-presented by an imposter. He also assured the villagers of the Best Customer Service by this product and stated that on successful implementation of this Pilot Project, the facility will be replicated and implemented in other interior parts of the State of West Bengal. Shri A.K. Das, Special Secretary, Govt. of West Bengal said that United Bank of India is a Common Man's Bank in Eastern Part of the country and has always pioneered customer friendly products and services in the State of West Bengal and applauded introduction of this Smart Card product by United Bank.

Shri Pranab Bhattacharjee, Local MLA also appreciated and lauded the maiden efforts of United Bank of India in bringing high techno-based Smart Card in the State of West Bengal.

The representatives of RBI & NABARD also participated and appreciated the Universal Financial Inclusion initiative taken by United Bank of India
