Collection of Central Govt. Revenues :
The Bank collects Direct Taxes like Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Wealth Tax, Gift Tax, Fringe Benefit Tax etc. and Indirect Taxes like Central Excise Duty, Customs & Service Tax both over the counter through a number of authorised branches and through internet from all branches all over the country.
Indirect Taxes like Central Excise duty and Service Tax are collected in physical mode from the Assessees under Kolkata, Haldia, Bolepur, Siliguri and Dibrugarh Commissionerates. Assessees under any Commissionerate all over the country can pay their tax liability through any branch of our Bank by ‘e-payment’ mode.
The Bank collects State Commercial Taxes like Sales Tax, VAT etc. and Profession Tax in West Bangal and Maharashtra through a number of authorised branches spread all over the states.
The Bank collects West Bengal commercial taxes by ‘e-payment’ mode through all branches.
Tax payers are required to fill up the respective challans correctly for prompt credit of the Tax amount to Govt. account. In case of payment by cheque, double stamping of dates indicating date of tender and date of realisation of cheque is affixed on the challan and the acknowledgement is delivered after realisation. Computerised acknowledgement is issued to tax payers. If the Assessee reports loss of receipted copy of challan, its duplicate is not issued, instead a certificate is issued recording the details of Tax payment.
The Bank collects deposit under Public Provident Fund, SCSS and 8% Saving (Taxable) Bond, 2003 through authorised branches.
